Seville approves 14 new tourist apartment projects amid housing crisis

The Seville City Council's Urban Planning Department is processing licences for 14 additional tourist apartments (AT) in neighborhoods such as the historic centre, Triana, Macarena and Parque Alcosa. If approved, the total number of ATs in the capital of Andalusia would rise from 418 to 432, with most projects involving whole buildings rather than individual flats.

Mayor José Luis Sanz noted that the city has grown from about 240 to over 400 tourist apartments in the past three years, a trend driven by regional regulations that supersede municipal rules. While a local ordinance on tourist-use housing (VUT) has slowed the growth of regular tourist‑use flats, the AT category continues to expand under the jurisdiction of the Junta de Andalucía.
