Seville Chamber of Commerce celebrates 140th anniversary

The Seville Chamber of Commerce marked its 140th anniversary with a commemorative event held at the Real Alcázar. Founded in 1886 by merchants, industrialists, and shipowners, the institution has played a central role in the economic development of Andalusia and the internationalization of local businesses.

During the ceremony, Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, President of the Junta de Andalucía, described the institution’s trajectory as ‘a success story,’ noting its ability to survive various historical, social, and economic shifts. He emphasized the Chamber's essential role in supporting business digitalization and competitiveness.

Seville Mayor José Luis Sanz also attended, highlighting the Chamber's capacity to act as an intermediary that attracts investments, leading to job creation and economic growth. The event served to connect the organization's historical mercantile roots with future technological and structural challenges facing the region.
