Seville controversy over public plaza use for magazine gala
A controversy has erupted in Seville following a gala event held in the Plaza Virgen de los Reyes to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Escaparate magazine. The event, attended by various politicians and celebrities, has drawn criticism for the alleged privatization of public space, as municipal ordinances reportedly prohibit such use of the plaza.
A political party has filed complaints of malfeasance and embezzlement against the Seville City Council, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Provincial Council regarding the matter. Additionally, the Junta de Andalucía reportedly contributed 18,000 euros toward the costs of the event. In response to the gathering, local citizens held a sit-in to protest the use of the public square.
