Magrudis listeriosis case trial postponed to seek settlement

The Provincial Court of Seville has granted a one-week extension to the parties involved in the Magrudis listeriosis case. The delay, now set until November 3, aims to facilitate a settlement regarding the 2019 outbreak caused by contaminated 'La Mechá' brand shredded meat.

Legal representatives for the victims, including Manuel Parrilla and Germán Grima, expressed optimism about reaching an agreement that could avoid a massive trial projected to last until January 2027. They noted that while most parties are negotiating, the Seville City Council has remained passive, acting merely as an observer.

Negotiations involve potential indemnities totaling approximately 10 million euros for those affected. The 2019 outbreak resulted in over 200 people being poisoned and four deaths.
