Seville explores metro expansion and rail interchanges

Authorities in Seville are exploring two primary strategies to improve mobility and connectivity between the province and the capital. One approach involves the expansion of the Seville Metro through the development of Line 2 and Line 3. The proposed Line 2 would have a metropolitan character, potentially connecting Sevilla Este with municipalities such as Camas, Castilleja, and Tomares.

As an alternative to direct metro expansion, officials are considering the creation of an interchange between the metro and the Cercanías commuter rail system. A specific proposal involves building an interchange at El Higuerón Norte to better connect the Aljarafe region and municipalities like La Rinconada to the metropolitan network. This initiative is currently being coordinated by the Ministry of Transport and the Junta de Andalucía.
