Seville Film Festival announces 2026 opening film and honoree

The Seville Film Festival has announced that the animated film ‘Viva Carmen’ by Sébastien Laudenbach will serve as the opening film for its 2026 edition. The film is a reimagining of Bizet’s opera, set in 1840 Andalusia and viewed through the eyes of a group of children.

In addition to the opening selection, the festival will honor Agnieszka Holland with the Giraldillo de Honor. The announcement also highlights a new collaboration between the Seville Film Festival and the Seville Opera Festival.
