Seville police arrest four for theft and abuse of racing greyhounds

The Guardia Civil has dismantled an organized criminal group responsible for the theft and abuse of eight racing greyhounds in Bollullos de la Mitación, Seville. The operation, known as ‘Alxaraf-lebrel’, was launched following a report from a farm owner whose eight federally registered dogs were stolen.

During the investigation, the ROCA Team from Sanlúcar la Mayor identified the suspects, who reside in the Las Tres Mil Viviendas neighborhood of Seville. All eight dogs were successfully recovered and returned to their owner. However, authorities discovered that two of the animals had been subjected to severe cruelty; their subcutaneous identification microchips had been forcibly removed to hide their origin, resulting in wounds that required urgent veterinary care.

Four individuals have been detained and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities. They face charges including robbery with force, serious injury, animal cruelty, and membership in an organized criminal group.
