Seville hosts Tourism Innovation Summit 2026 emphasizing sustainable tourism
The Tourism Innovation Summit (TIS) 2026 will be held from 6‑8 October at FIBES Sevilla, gathering more than 400 experts to discuss the future of tourism. A central focus will be sustainability, with sessions on the new EU regulations governing environmental claims, methods to measure hotels' carbon footprints, and strategies to avoid greenwashing or greenhushing.
The summit will also explore “positive tourism,” promoting travel models that adapt to local ecological conditions and contribute to conservation. Highlights include the launch of the 2026 Rural Tourism Observatory, where specialists will present trends and data on rural travel, and discussions on regenerative tourism models. Speakers such as Daniel Turner (Romanian ecotourism association), Bart Schutz (Rewilding Europe), and representatives from destinations like Prague, Copenhagen, Dubrovnik and Amsterdam will share practical approaches to balancing visitor flows, resident wellbeing, and economic benefits.
Overall, TIS2026 aims to provide tools, regulations and case studies for tourism operators and destinations to integrate biodiversity protection and sustainable practices into their operations.
