Seville local police protest unpaid overtime and staffing shortages

The Seville Local Police union, represented by CSIF, has criticized Mayor José Luis Sanz over unpaid overtime and a significant shortage of approximately 400 unfilled positions. Union representative Santiago Raposo stated that the city has effectively become a ‘theme park’ due to the high volume of events despite these resource deficits.

Specific grievances include unpaid overtime from the previous year’s Christmas plan, which municipal reports deemed legally and budgetarily invalid, requiring a new procedure for payment. Additionally, officers are reportedly owed compensation for services rendered during the November 1st holiday, various extraordinary services in November, and the UN Summit held in Seville in mid-2025. The union noted that some payments for services provided during the 2022 UEFA final remain outstanding.
