Seville updates transit plans for Tranvibús and Metro Line 3
Seville is implementing significant changes to its public transport infrastructure. Starting September 28, the Tranvibús (Bus Rapid Transit) service will extend to Plaza del Duque. To ensure the speed and efficiency of the TB1 line between Sevilla Este and the city center, a new automated control system will be deployed. This system uses cameras to detect unauthorized vehicles entering the reserved lane between Puñonrostro and Plaza del Duque. While the system begins monitoring immediately, a two-to-three-month informative period is planned, with fines of 200 euros expected to take effect in early 2027.
Additionally, the regional government (Junta) and the Seville City Council have announced major modifications to the planned route of Metro Line 3. The southern section will now be underground through the Bellavista and Valme Hospital areas. The route has also been adjusted in the Los Bermejales neighborhood to bypass the central boulevard area following local resident requests, instead running through Reino Unido, Polonia, and Irlanda avenues. Technical development for these changes is expected to take approximately one year before construction begins.
