Seville's Atarazanas to Host Major Exhibition of 500 Years of Spanish Painting
The historic Reales Atarazanas in Seville will host a major art exhibition titled “De Velázquez a Sorolla: 500 years of Hispanic Painting”. Organized by the Hispanic Society Museum & Library of New York, the show will bring together more than seventy masterpieces by Spanish masters such as Diego Velázquez, Francisco Goya, El Greco and Joaquín Sorolla, spanning five centuries of art.
The exhibition follows a three‑year, €20 million restoration of the medieval shipyard by the Fundación Cajasol, which now provides 12,600 m² of cultural space. The opening is planned for the end of 2026 or early 2027, making the Atarazanas a permanent hub for international cultural exchange in Spain.
