Sevinç Baykan Özden elected President of Union of City Councils of Türkiye

Sevinç Baykan Özden, President of the Balıkesir City Council, has been elected as the 18th Term President of the Union of City Councils of Türkiye. The election took place during the 17th Term Board Meeting held in Ankara.

During the meeting, attendees discussed strengthening cooperation between city councils and evaluated a draft protocol for institutional collaboration with the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye. The board also addressed a project prepared for submission to the Ministry of Interior aimed at enhancing local participation.

In addition to Özden's election, Necati Binici was appointed as Vice President and Dr. Selim Çakar, President of the Tokat City Council, was named Vice President. The official handover ceremony is expected to take place in Balıkesir in October.
