Sevran apartment fire kills one and injures two firefighters
A fatal fire broke out in an apartment building in Sevran, Seine-Saint-Denis, resulting in the death of a woman in her fifties. The blaze, which began late Monday morning, affected six apartments on the tenth floor of a thirteen-story building.
Approximately 115 firefighters responded to the scene to control the flames. During the intervention, two firefighters were injured due to the inhalation of toxic smoke, with one reported to be in serious condition.
The Bobigny prosecutor's office confirmed the identity of the deceased as a woman born in 1974. Preliminary investigations by the police prefecture suggest the victim may have been involved in previous attempted arson incidents, including a suspected incident involving flaming objects thrown onto a neighbor's balcony the previous Friday. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the fire and the victim's potential psychiatric history.
