According to locals, a large volume of wastewater flowed into the river for more than four hours, raising fears of water pollution in a river that supplies several municipalities in the region.

The community has demanded that Copasa, the regional water utility, clarify the source of the discharge, address any operational problems, and outline measures to stop the contamination. As of the latest update, Copasa had not responded to the inquiry, and authorities have yet to issue an official statement.

The incident highlights concerns over the environmental impact of untreated waste on local ecosystems and water resources, prompting calls for immediate investigation and remediation.
