Sex & Samfund study reveals gaps in Danish youth sexual education
A new study conducted by Sex & Samfund in collaboration with Voxmeter reveals significant challenges regarding sexual education and consent among young Danes aged 15 to 25.
One-third of young people in this age group reported that the sexual education provided through their schooling was not useful. The study highlights difficulties in navigating topics such as contraception and consent discussions. Furthermore, sexual education was found to be only the second most used source of information, with friends being the primary source.
The findings also indicate gender-based differences in sexual experiences. One in six young women reported engaging in sexual acts against their desires, often driven by a sense of pressure to perform. More than one-third of young women admitted to feigning pleasure. In comparison, nearly one in ten young men reported expressing more pleasure than they actually felt, while 4.7 percent of men stated they had consented to acts against their desires.
