Sexual health benefits and global challenges highlighted

A recent article explains that long periods without sexual activity can affect physical and mental health. Regular intercourse is linked to higher antibody levels, lower stress and anxiety, reduced risk of prostate cancer in men and prevention of vaginal atrophy in women, while abstinence may weaken immune defenses and increase psychological distress.

Another report cites the World Health Organization’s definition of sexual health as a state of well‑being that requires respect for sexual rights, comprehensive education and safe services. It notes a global rise in sexually transmitted infections, cuts to international funding, and high rates of sexual violence – especially among women. Europe is portrayed as a leader in advancing sexual‑rights policies, with recommendations for mandatory, evidence‑based sex education, wider access to modern contraceptives and safe abortion services, while highlighting specific challenges in Spain.
