Seychelles advances tourism leadership and UAE bilateral ties

Seychelles is entering a new phase of economic and institutional development through leadership changes and strengthened international partnerships. Vesna Rakić has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the newly reinstated Seychelles Tourism Board. Rakić aims to build accountable structures that protect the nation’s premium status as a destination defined by its biosphere and tranquility.

Simultaneously, bilateral relations between Seychelles and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are expanding. Following meetings between President Patrick Herminie and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, both nations pledged to deepen cooperation in energy, infrastructure, health, education, and maritime security. The UAE has a long history of supporting Seychelles through the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, which has provided nearly AED549 million in financing for various sectors, including solar and wind energy projects managed by Masdar.
