Seychelles approves fuel supply deal and aviation agreements

The Seychelles Cabinet, chaired by President Dr. Patrick Herminie, has approved several key policy and legal measures. To ensure energy security, the Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited (SEYPEC) will enter a seven-year fuel supply agreement with TotalEnergies Trading SA (TOTSA), which includes a payment extension facility to support liquidity.

In the aviation sector, the Cabinet ratified Bilateral Air Services Agreements (BASAs) with 33 partner countries. These agreements aim to strengthen air connectivity, tourism, and trade while allowing for regulated market access rather than a fully open skies policy. This framework will support Air Seychelles through expanded route planning and commercial partnerships.

Additionally, a group of young Seychellois footballers is departing for France to participate in a FIFA-sponsored elite academy programme. The ten-month initiative, titled ‘Developing Future Seychellois Football Excellence through Higher Education and High-Performance Training’, combines intensive athletic training with academic studies.
