Seychelles delegation attends Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting

Principal Minister Wallace Cosgrow, representing President Dr. Patrick Herminie, led the Seychelles delegation at the opening of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). During the Executive Session, Cosgrow congratulated the new Commonwealth Secretary-General, Shirley Botchwey, on efforts to modernize the Secretariat.

Addressing reparatory justice, Cosgrow joined other delegations, including Mauritius, in advocating for the official communiqué to recognize the historical injustices of slavery and human trafficking experienced in the Indian Ocean region.

On the sidelines of the summit, Cosgrow participated in a session regarding Blue Finance and Innovation. He discussed Seychelles’ use of innovative financing to support the Blue Economy, noting that sustainable ocean management is central to the nation's strategy for balancing economic growth with environmental conservation.
