Seychelles Minister Barry Faure discusses bilateral relations in Moscow
Seychelles Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Barry Faure, delivered a lecture at Synergy University in Moscow, representing President Dr. Patrick Herminie. During his visit, Faure outlined Seychelles’ foreign policy of being a “friend to all, enemy to none” while navigating a multipolar world.
Key developments in Seychelles-Russia relations include the scheduled commencement of direct tuna exports to Russia via Aeroflot on 31 October. Additionally, Seychelles intends to establish a resident embassy in Moscow during the first quarter of 2027.
Speaking at the Third Russia-Africa Summit, Faure advocated for African ownership of development and greater value creation within African economies. He emphasized the importance of sovereign equality and mutual respect in international engagements. Faure also proposed a Russia-Africa Climate Resilience Facility to assist island and coastal states in addressing climate vulnerabilities, noting that Russian expertise in ocean research could support these efforts.
