Seychelles President meets new Central Bank Governor

President Dr Patrick Herminie met with the newly appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Seychelles, Ms Sarah Lloyd, at State House to formally present her letter of appointment. Ms Lloyd is scheduled to assume office on 1 November 2026.

During the meeting, President Herminie emphasized the necessity of maintaining monetary and financial stability, price stability, and confidence in the national financial system. He highlighted the importance of continuity within the Central Bank as the leadership transitions.

Ms Lloyd stated that her priorities include deepening the financial services sector while preserving the stability of the financial system. Addressing the issue of institutional autonomy, she stressed the importance of protecting the Central Bank’s independence and its reputation for integrity, noting that constructive engagement would be essential if policy directions differ from those of the government.
