SEyD consolidates parent networks for special education students

The Secretariat of Education and Sports (SEyD), through the Special Education Services Strengthening Program (PFSEE), has consolidated a network of parents and guardians for students with disabilities and outstanding abilities.

For families of students with disabilities, the initiative established a formal space for dialogue involving 371 parents. The network aims to facilitate the exchange of life experiences, mutual knowledge, and the designation of active representatives to manage resources and support mechanisms for student well-being. Workshops addressed parenting styles, home support strategies for autism spectrum disorder and multiple disabilities, and the importance of caregiver mental and physical health.

A separate network for guardians of students with outstanding abilities brought together 126 parents. This group focuses on creating spaces for experience sharing and designating representatives to enhance collaboration between schools and the community. These efforts, supported by Special Education Support Service Units (USAER) and Multiple Attention Centers (CAM), emphasize emotional resilience and self-care for caregivers.
