Seyi Makinde honored with chieftaincy titles, warns Oyo monarchs to stay neutral

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and his wife, Tamunominini Makinde, were conferred with the chieftaincy titles of Aare Asoludero and Yeye Aare Asoludero, respectively, by the traditional rulers of Ibarapaland. The ceremony, held in Eruwa during the first coronation anniversary of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, recognized the Governor’s contributions to security, infrastructure, and communal stability.

During the event, Governor Makinde issued a stern warning to traditional rulers regarding political neutrality. He stated that monarchs must remain apolitical and serve as father figures to all citizens. He cautioned that any traditional institution that interferes in partisan politics would face criticism and be treated as a political entity rather than a respected traditional institution.

Makinde, who is the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for the 2027 presidential election, also discussed his national ambitions. He expressed his intention to travel across Nigeria to present his vision for improved governance and development to citizens nationwide.
