Seyyid Kutbiddin Cemetery undergoes historical tombstone restoration

Restoration and preservation efforts are underway at the historical Seyyid Kutbiddin Cemetery in Samsun to protect ancient tombstones for future generations. Conducted by the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, the project follows decisions made by the Samsun Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Assets.

The process involves documenting and numbering historical tombstones that cannot be linked to specific individual graves. Municipal teams are performing meticulous cleaning and numbering to prevent the loss or damage of these artifacts and to uncover historical elements that had become obscured over time.

As part of the approved project, these stones will be displayed on special pedestals along the cemetery's walking paths. This arrangement is designed to ensure both the physical protection of the stones and to allow visitors to examine the historical artifacts closely, transforming the site into a space for cultural heritage exhibition.
