Sezze mourns Benedetto Passamonti amid military internee commemorations

The community of Sezze is mourning the passing of Benedetto Passamonti. His death follows a period of remembrance for the 300 internees from Sezze during a ceremony held at Montecitorio for the National Day of Italian Military Internees (IMI).

During the ceremony, attended by President Sergio Mattarella, Sezze Mayor Lidano Lucidi honored the military and civilians who refused to collaborate with Nazi Germany and the Social Republic. Lucidi noted that the town's internees faced extreme hardship, including hunger, cold, and inhumane labor in concentration camps, with many losing their lives as a result of their refusal to submit.
