SFFILM announces 12th annual Doc Stories festival lineup
SFFILM has announced the lineup for the 12th annual Doc Stories documentary film festival, which will take place from November 5-8 at the Vogue Theatre in San Francisco. The festival will open with Ava DuVernay’s ‘14th’, a film examining the promises of the 14th Amendment, and conclude with Sam Pollard’s ‘Tutu’.
The program features 10 feature documentaries and 11 short films. Notable selections include Joshua Oppenheimer’s ‘The Revolution Against Death’, Laura Poitras’ ‘They’re Here’, and ‘Black Sunflowers’, which is executive produced by Sean Penn. Other featured works include J. M. Harper’s ‘Soul Patrol’ and Luke Lorentzen’s films.
Several filmmakers, including DuVernay, Pollard, Poitras, Luke Lorentzen, and Ben Proudfoot, are scheduled to attend the event in person. The festival is recognized as a significant stop for Academy Award campaigns, with more than two dozen previous selections earning Oscar nominations.
