Sfântul Pantelimon Hospital introduces laser treatment for varicose veins
The Sfântul Pantelimon Emergency Clinical Hospital in Bucharest has become the first public hospital in Romania to implement the LumeSeal laser platform for the minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency.
The LumeSeal system is a third-generation laser platform that utilizes 1470 nm wavelength, radial fibers, and SnakeBack technology to perform endovenous laser ablation. This procedure treats the affected vein from the inside, allowing the body to redirect blood flow to healthy veins. The technology aligns with current European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) guidelines.
Eligible patients can have the procedure reimbursed through the National Health Insurance House (CNAS). Vascular surgeons must evaluate patients, often using Doppler ultrasound, to determine if they are candidates for this specific intervention.
