SFO: Grimhammer III creator sabotages mod to stop AI copies

Venris, the creator of the popular Total War: Warhammer 3 mod SFO: Grimhammer III, deliberately corrupted the project files to prevent unauthorized copies generated by artificial intelligence from being redistributed on the Steam Workshop.

Venris reported finding reuploads that attempted to update the mod's content using “vibe coding” and republishing it as original work. The creator explained on Patreon that the measure was taken to combat the rise of AI-generated modifications that appropriate years of community-driven work. While the sabotage was temporary, it succeeded in drawing attention to the issue of AI-driven content farms on the Workshop.

Following the public reaction, a functional version of the mod compatible with game version 8.1.1 was restored on Steam. Venris emphasized that the SFO mods will remain free and are not being moved behind a paywall, but expressed a desire for AI to be used as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for human developers.
