SGGW expands research capabilities in biotechnology and photonics

Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) is implementing new projects to modernize its research and educational infrastructure. One initiative focuses on Animal Bioengineering, providing advanced laboratory equipment for DNA sequencing, 3D bioprinting, and molecular analysis. The project includes upgrading animal facilities with individually ventilated cage systems and implementing the 3R principle by using animal phantoms to reduce the use of live subjects in training.

A second major initiative involves the creation of the Bioplastics Photonics Laboratory. This facility aims to bridge the gap between photonics, biotechnology, and materials science. The laboratory will support research in circular economy bioplastics, bio-optoelectronic materials, and diagnostic solutions for brain diseases. The project includes the acquisition of specialized equipment such as femtosecond and diode lasers, spectrometers, and circular dichroism analyzers to foster collaboration between academia and the MedTech and biotechnology sectors.
