SGK and Public Procurement Authority digitize foreign medicine supply

The Social Security Institution (SGK) and the Public Procurement Authority (KİK) have signed a cooperation protocol to digitize the procurement process for medical products imported from abroad. Signed by SGK President Yunus Elitaş and KİK President Hamdi Güleç, the agreement moves the management of human medical products and related service acquisitions to a digital infrastructure.

Under the new system, various procedures—including the preparation and publication of tender documents, notifications, direct procurement, and electronic auctions—will be conducted through the Electronic Public Procurement Platform (EKAP). The protocol also introduces a dynamic purchasing system to prioritize the procurement of critical medicines where time is a vital factor.

By transitioning supplier pre-qualification and evaluation processes to a fully digital format, the initiative aims to minimize bureaucratic delays and ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential treatments. The digital system is intended to enhance transparency, security, and traceability throughout the medical supply chain.
