Social Security Institution (SGK) specialist İsa Karakaş has issued a warning regarding the critical importance of timely medical check-ups for disabled and incapacitated beneficiaries in Turkey.

According to the guidelines, if a required medical report is not obtained within three months of the scheduled control date, any retroactive payments for the period of interruption are permanently lost. While payments may be temporarily suspended if a report is submitted within three months after the control date, these funds are eventually paid out once the report is approved. However, extreme delays result in a total loss of those past benefits.

SGK typically notifies beneficiaries at least three months before a required check-up. If a notification only lists a month and year, the first day of that month is treated as the official control date. Check-ups may be mandated by health boards, beneficiary declarations of worsening health, third-party complaints, or official inspections.
