SGR recycling system collects over one million packages in a single month

The SGR deposit-return system using a bag-based collection method has seen significant growth in Romania. In Iași alone, the volume of collected SGR packaging exceeded one million units in a single month, marking a substantial increase compared to the first six months of the system's implementation.

The collection network has expanded to 27 centers across five locations: Iași, Botoșani, Suceava, Dumbrăveni, and Dorohoi. According to the operator, approximately 24,000 people are currently registered in the IZI application, a figure that has doubled in the last four months. The system facilitates the return of beverage packaging collected in a single bag, after which the deposit is reimbursed to the user.

Data indicates a high retention rate, with approximately 90% of users returning to make new deposits in subsequent months. There are currently over 35,000 bag deposits recorded each month.
