Shabana Azeez Leads Queer Romance Film 'Unrequited

Australian actress Shabana Azeez, known for her role as Dr. Victoria Javadi on HBO’s series The Pitt, has been cast as Anjali in the upcoming independent feature Unrequited. The film marks the directorial debut of Lynn Q. Yu, who also wrote the screenplay. It follows former college roommates and lovers on a farewell road trip across California as Anjali prepares to return to India.

Production is slated to begin in California next spring. The project is produced by Jake Casey and Danielle Benedict of The Dazey Phase, alongside John Gray of It’s Not Pork, with Rich Freeman and Rick Berg serving as executive producers for Code Entertainment. Unrequited is positioned as a queer romance that will showcase a different side of Azeez’s talent.
