Sha'Carri Richardson Avoids Jail After No-Contest Plea in Florida Super‑Speeder Case

Olympic sprint champion Sha'Carri Richardson entered a no‑contest plea to a “super speeder” charge in Orange County, Florida, after being clocked at 104 mph on State Road 429. The plea deal removed the threat of jail time under the state’s newly enacted super‑speeder law, which classifies driving 100 mph or more as a second‑degree misdemeanor.

Under the agreement Richardson will pay a $500 fine, complete 100 hours of community service and attend an eight‑hour aggressive‑driving course. The case concluded six months after her victory at the 2026 USATF Outdoor Championships, where she claimed her third national 100‑metre title.

The incident follows a prior 2025 arrest at Seattle‑Tacoma International Airport involving her boyfriend, sprinter Christian Coleman, though those charges were later dropped. Richardson said the resolution allows her to focus on her health and athletic career.
