Shader Model 6.10 preview and RTX laptop GPU update surface in driver release

A Microsoft preview introduces Shader Model 6.10, highlighting new DirectX GPU features as part of a long arc of GPU evolution. The piece notes that August will mark eight years since the original GeForce RTX GPUs, and that matrix math accelerators and AI accelerator hardware have become commonplace across GPUs from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel.

In a separate development, Nvidia’s latest RTX reveal is described as a paragraph in a driver release, with no new desktop cards announced this year. The only new Nvidia card is a mildly updated RTX 5070 laptop GPU, equipped with 12GB of GDDR7 memory, representing the extent of the current update.
