Shadow of the Road set to launch November 12, 2026
Developer Another Angle Games and publisher Owlcat Games have announced that the tactical RPG Shadow of the Road is scheduled for release on November 12, 2026. The announcement, which included a new release date trailer, was made during the Find Your Next Game Show at gamescom.
Set in 1868 Japan, the game is a narrative turn-based RPG that blends feudal tradition with steampunk elements and magic. The story takes place during a civil war between the traditionalist forces of the Tokugawa Shogun and the technologically advanced army of Emperor Mutsuhito. Players will control a diverse group of characters, including former samurai and a mysterious child with immense powers, as they navigate a landscape of bandits, imperial soldiers, and supernatural yokai.
The game will be available on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. A playable demo is currently available for players on Steam.
