Shafali Verma reprimanded by ICC for Code of Conduct breach

Indian batter Shafali Verma has received an official reprimand and one demerit point from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for violating the Code of Conduct during the second Women’s T20I against Zimbabwe in Raipur.

The incident occurred during the 12th over of Zimbabwe’s innings when Verma dropped a catch by Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano. In frustration, Verma threw the ball onto the ground, which was ruled a violation of Article 2.2 regarding the misuse or abuse of cricket equipment, clothing, or ground fixtures.

Verma accepted the sanction imposed by ICC Match Referee G. S. Lakshmi, removing the need for a formal hearing. This marks her first disciplinary breach in the past 24 months. Despite the penalty, Verma had a strong performance with the bat in the same match, scoring 55 runs off 25 balls to help India secure a victory and a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
