Shahdol: Speeding SUV kills woman in hit-and-run accident

A speeding SUV caused a fatal road accident in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, late Thursday night. The incident occurred between Budhar Chowk and Gandhi Chowk near the Central Bank, while a woman and her nephew were traveling to the railway station to catch a train to Rewa.

According to reports, a high-speed Innova SUV (registration MP18 BB 2683) struck the scooter they were riding. The impact caused the nephew to fall, while the woman, identified as 50-year-old Saroj Jaiswal, was run over by the vehicle and died at the scene. The nephew sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical treatment.

The driver, identified by witnesses as Shekhar Pandey, fled the scene immediately after the collision. Kotwali Police have identified the vehicle and registered a case against the driver. Local legal representatives have raised concerns regarding public safety and the lack of control over speeding vehicles within the city.
