Shaheen Afridi leads Pakistan Gold to National Champions Cup victory

Shaheen Shah Afridi led Pakistan Gold to a 101-run victory over Shadab Khan-led Pakistan Greens to win the National Champions Cup 2026 in Multan. Afridi delivered a career-best performance, taking 7/36, which included a hat-trick, to dismantle the Greens' batting lineup after a strong start to their chase.

Pakistan Gold posted a total of 340 runs, fueled by centuries from openers Shamyl Hussain (111) and Saad Khan (112). Although Pakistan Greens reached 147/3 and remained in contention, they suffered a collapse, losing six wickets for 167 runs during Afridi’s decisive middle-over spell.

The tournament was organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board as part of preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup, aiming to develop a broader player pool and assess the fitness of the country’s white-ball talent.
