Shaheen Afridi pursues Pakistan Test comeback through domestic cricket

Shaheen Shah Afridi is seeking a return to Pakistan’s Test squad by participating in the President’s Trophy. This marks his first appearance in competitive domestic red-ball cricket since 2019.

Afridi, who has taken 126 wickets in 34 Test matches since his 2018 debut, was recently omitted from Pakistan’s touring squads for the West Indies and England. He stated that red-ball cricket remains his “first priority” and expressed a desire to fine-tune his line and length through longer formats of the game.

While currently out of the Test setup, Afridi continues to serve as the captain of Pakistan’s ODI side. He is looking toward upcoming assignments, including a home tri-series against England and Sri Lanka, as well as home Test series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
