Shahir Zawawi loses 12kg ahead of Gegar Vaganza competition

Singer Shahir Zawawi has lost 12 kilograms in three weeks in preparation for his participation in the 13th season of the reality competition Gegar Vaganza (GV13). The 38-year-old performer, formerly a winner of Akademi Fantasia season 8, revealed that his weight had previously reached 100 kilograms, leading to physical discomfort such as shortness of breath.

To prepare for the stage, Zawawi employed a strict regimen involving jogging and extreme dietary restrictions. He described his approach as “hardcore,” noting instances where he would eat for one day and then refrain from eating for three consecutive days. He stated that the demand of his professional work and the upcoming competition served as the necessary “push factor” to return to an ideal weight.

Gegar Vaganza season 13, which features a “Fantasia” theme, is scheduled to begin on November 9, 2026. Other announced participants include Vince, Zahid, Mawi, Mila Jirin, Stacy, Faizul, and Firman, with hosts Nabil Ahmad, Jihan Muse, and Sherry Al Hadad.
