Shahril Mokhtar proposes reform in FAM presidency race

Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar has positioned himself as an underdog in the race for the Presidency of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM). The Deputy President of the Selangor Football Association (FAS) is campaigning on a platform of comprehensive reform to revitalize national football.

Shahril aims to address critical issues including governance and the findings of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) audit report. He has framed his candidacy as a choice between maintaining the status quo or implementing a thorough “cleaning” of the governing body to restore supporter confidence. The FAM election congress is scheduled for September 17.
