Shahril Mokhtar seeks to modernize FAM leadership

Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar, the Deputy President of the Football Association of Selangor (FAS), has announced his candidacy for the Presidency of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for the 2025-2029 term.

Shahril’s manifesto focuses on four key pillars: administrative transparency, new leadership styles, grassroots strengthening, and financial sustainability. He aims to modernize the governing body by eliminating the “culture of nodding” and addressing governance issues highlighted in recent AFC audits, such as leakages and lack of transparency.

Additionally, Shahril emphasized the need for consistent engagement with affiliate members and grassroots development, arguing that relationships with these groups should not be limited to election seasons.
