Shahrol Shiro appointed as UKM instructor for Citra course

Comedian Shahrol Shiro, whose real name is Shahrol Azizie Azmi, has been appointed as an instructor for the Citra course at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for the 2026/2027 session. He will teach acting and practical comedy at the Faculty of Citra Science.

Addressing public speculation, Shahrol clarified that his appointment is not linked to any political affiliations. He noted that the idea for the Citra Comedy Art course emerged following discussions with UKM's Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni, Professor Dr. Norinsan Kamil Othman.

Shahrol expressed that combining academic knowledge with industry experience can benefit students by developing communication skills and stage confidence. While some social media users questioned his academic qualifications, Shahrol stated he is currently working toward completing his bachelor's degree this year.
