Shakespeare Summer Festival Opens at Silesian Castle in Ostrava

The 19th edition of the Summer Shakespeare Festival began in July at the historic Silesian Castle in Ostrava. Directed by Filip Nuckolls, the opening production is William Shakespeare’s *Comedy of Errors*, staged with a cast of prominent Czech actors including Marek Adamczyk, Vojtěch Vondrák, Jakub Kohák and others. The festival runs through August and also presents performances in Brno, Prague and Bratislava, featuring additional plays such as *Othello* and *Macbeth*.

A radio contest on July 22 offered listeners tickets to the festival’s shows, with prizes that include books and specialty coffee. Organisers note strong attendance and a lively atmosphere, while warning that weather could affect future dates.
