Shakespeare’s Globe launches new Research & Collections centre

Shakespeare’s Globe has announced the launch of its new Research & Collections centre in London. Designed by Allies and Morrison, the facility serves as the city’s only dedicated Shakespeare library and archive that is fully open and accessible to the public.

The centre includes the Audre D. Carlin Reading Room, which provides access to over 6,000 books regarding Shakespeare, early modern literature, culture, and the history of dramatic performance. The facility also features a Performance Archive, containing production documents and a digital archive of recordings, talks, and workshops.

Additionally, the John Wolfson Rare Book Room houses nearly 500 original 16th and 17th-century plays, poems, and treatises. The development is completed by the Wolfson Lecture Theatre, a climate-controlled secure archive store, and the Weston Foyer, which displays various institutional and artistic archive objects.
