Shakhtar Donetsk to host Champions League matches in London as Arsenal chase Bruno Guimarães
Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk confirmed it will play its home 2026/27 Champions League fixtures in London after being displaced by the war in Ukraine. Club boss Arda Turan said, "It looks like we'll be playing our European matches in London for now," and the team is negotiating use of stadiums such as Chelsea, Fulham or Brentford, which are available after their owners missed out on European qualification.
Meanwhile, Premier League champions Arsenal are preparing a £70 million bid for Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães, who currently stars for Newcastle United. Arsenal aim to add the midfielder following a season that saw them win the English title and reach the Champions League final, and personal terms are reported to be agreed pending club‑level negotiations.
