Shakira and Burna Boy headline 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City
Colombian pop star Shakira and Nigerian Afrobeats artist Burna Boy will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on 11 June at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca. They will debut the tournament’s official song “Dai Dai,” a collaboration released in May, and perform alongside a multinational lineup that includes J Balvin, Tyla, Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, and Maná.
FIFA plans parallel opening shows in the United States and Canada, with separate artist line‑ups in Toronto and Los Angeles. The Mexico City event will precede the opening match between co‑hosts Mexico and South Africa. The “Dai Dai” project also aims to raise $100 million for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, linking the spectacle to a philanthropic goal.
