Shakira and Burna Boy to perform at FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremony in Mexico City
Colombian singer Shakira and Nigerian artist Burna Boy will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday, 11 June, at the Estadio Banorte (Azteca) in Mexico City. They will perform the tournament’s official anthem “Dai Dai,” a song created to promote cultural unity and raise funds for global education initiatives.
The ceremony marks the start of the first triple‑host World Cup, jointly organized by Mexico, the United States and Canada. In addition to Shakira and Burna Boy, the event will feature a lineup of Mexican and international performers, including Alejandro Fernández, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná, Danny Ocean, J Balvin and others, showcasing a mix of pop, regional Mexican, cumbia and urban music. FIFA President Gianni Infantino highlighted the show as a celebration of the tournament’s shared identity across the three host nations.
