Shakira and Burna Boy to Perform at FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening in Mexico City
FIFA announced that Shakira and Burna Boy will perform the tournament's official song “Dai Dai” at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup in Mexico City on June 11, 2026. The performance will take place about 90 minutes before the opening match between host nation Mexico and South Africa.
The song, written in five languages, supports FIFA’s Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise US$100 million to provide quality education and football opportunities for children worldwide. The ceremony will also feature performances by Alejandro Fernandez, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Angeles Azules, Mana and Tyla. Shakira is additionally slated as a co‑headliner for the final halftime show on July 19, alongside Madonna and BTS, with production overseen by Italian producer Marco Balik, who also directed the 2026 Winter Olympics opening.
